I’m spending the day writing an essay on Zoltán Kodály and Katalin Forrai as part of my Kodály Certificate in Early Childhood Music and this quote has struck home.
‘Music is everyone’s property. But how can we let it belong to everyone? We can, if a small child’s interest in music and his mood for singing a song are not ignored for years on end. We can if he learns his music, not as a foreign language, but as his musical mother tongue; if it is inside him and grows in him from the earliest possible stages of his life.’ Zoltán Kodály

Over the last few weeks I’ve had a few enquiries about classes from parents of very young babies. The general comments have been that the 12:00 slot is not ideal, so for the remainder of this term I am combining the classes for 0-30 months into one class at 11:00. I’ll give this arrangement a thorough appraisal before deciding upon groupings and timings for the Summer Term.
