Monday Morning Music 2

Hello.

I hope you’ve had a good week and you’re grabbing the sunshine whenever it appears.

I hope you enjoyed the different format of last Monday’s video. Today’s video follows the same pattern and you will again need a scarf, this time for the peekaboo song and a dance. Plus, as there is a lullaby, older children may want to rock their favourite cuddly toy, or sibling. Although the majority of today’s songs are again done standing up, most can easily be adapted for tiny babes in arms if it is easier to sit down and give your arms a rest. I also want to apologise, as it’s very gloomy outside this morning so the lighting on the video is not as I’d like it to be – but I’ve done the best I can!

I hope you enjoy today’s video. I’d love to hear how your little ones enjoy this different format. Any recent photos would also be wonderful as they would bring some sunshine to this wet Monday! The third Monday Morning Music video will be posted next Monday and I’ll also post on Instagram (maxwellminimusic) and Twitter (@maxwell_mini) once it’s on the website.

Have a good week, take care and keep singing.

Monday Morning Music 1

Hello.

After my short break, my videos are now resuming but in a slightly different format. I plan on releasing a new weekly blog on Monday mornings. The intention is to include a variety of songs and rhymes each week, covering different areas including fingerplay, movement, dancing, peekaboo and lullaby. Although the majority of today’s songs are done standing up, most can easily be adapted for tiny babes in arms if it is easier to sit down and give you arms a rest.

Today’s video includes one peekaboo song, so a scarf will be useful and as there is a lullaby, older children may want to rock their favourite cuddly toy.

After my final Lockdown video I received a few lovely messages including this one: “Just a quick note to say thank you so much for the lockdown videos you have provided over the last few months.  My son Dylan (3) and my daughter Ayla (now almost 5 months) have really enjoyed them.  Ayla now recognises the welcome song and the goodbye song and her face lights up when she hears them!  Dylan looks forward to doing them and always asks for more! I am only sorry that we live in Somerset so won’t be able to join in with live classes when they begin again.”

I hope you enjoy today’s video. I’d love to hear how your little ones enjoy this new format. Any recent photos would also be wonderful as they brighten up my days. The next video will be posted next Monday and I’ll also post on Instagram (maxwellminimusic) and Twitter (@maxwell_mini) once the new video is on the website.

Have a good week, take care and keep singing.

Lockdown Songs and more

I’ve been putting my mind to next week and my Summer Sessions and part of this has involved reviewing my 50 videos over the last few months.

I’ve just put together a grid of the songs and rhymes used so far, which will hopefully make it easier for you to find your favourites.

Blogs 42 – 50 were themed blogs, including 5 or 6 songs and rhymes and are up to 14 minutes in length. Hope the list proves useful and encourages you and your little musicians to revisit the blogs.

I’ll be back on Monday with a new style video, including numerous songs and rhymes involving different types of participation.

Take care. See you next week. Goodbye from me and the gang!

Lockdown Day 50 – Action Songs (Part 3)

Hello!

Well, who’d have thought I’d record 50 videos during lockdown? I certainly didn’t.

Today’s video includes some of my favourite action songs. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

When I posted my first Lockdown Songs video on 16th April, I had no idea how long we’d be locked down or how long I would want to keep recording. It’s been a pleasure and kept me focused on what I love doing: sharing my passion for music with little ones and help provide a solid start in their music education whilst they just think they’re playing games. I’d like to say a big thank you to all the families who’ve visited this site over the last ten weeks, whether you’ve stuck with me since the start, dipped in and out or only just discovered me. I’ve been amazed at the locations around the globe from which I’ve had visitors. In addition to the United Kingdom, visitors have come from twenty-six other nations: Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Hungary, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Malaysia, Myanmar (Burma), Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Sweden, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and United States.

This isn’t the end though! The fifty videos will remain available on this website for you to revisit whenever you like. I’m going to take a break for a couple of weeks and then I intend returning once a week or so with pre-recorded videos, more along the lines of my usual lessons. Our internet is pretty atrocious here, hence me opting for pre-recorded rather than live sessions. Keep an eye on this site, Facebook, Instagram (maxwellminimusic) and Twitter (@maxwell_mini) to know when new material is going to be available.

In the meantime, please let me know what has worked for you, what you’d like to see more of and please, please, please share any photos or videos of your little musicians enjoying the sessions.

Until next time, from me and my ‘friends’, keep safe and keep singing.

Max, Jimmy & Freddie

Lockdown Day 49 – Movement Songs

Hello!

Today’s songs and rhymes focus on moving around the room in different ways: walking, marching, creeping, stomping and jumping. If you’ve got tiny babies, move around the room with them in your arms so they can experience the steady beat (pulse).

Tomorrow will be my 50th Lockdown video and then I’m going to take a little break. More details about that and this series of videos tomorrow! As always, I’ll also post on Facebook, Instagram (maxwellminimusic) and Twitter (@maxwell_mini) once the new video is available on the website.

Hope you enjoy today’s video. Until tomorrow, have fun and keep singing.
