Lockdown Songs – Day 38

Hello!

I hope you’re keeping safe and well.

Today’s video is directed at walking children aged over 18 months (my Bobblers and Jumplings groups plus Reception children) and the actions mirror the pitch of the song. This song also works for babies if the parents can lift and lower the little ones (I do love an impromptu Mummy or Daddy workout).

Day 38 – Welcome, Hi lo Chickalo and Goodbye Everyone

I’m loving receiving your photos and comments and discovering how your children are reacting to and engaging with the videos. Please keep them coming as they’re brightening my days.

I hope you enjoy today’s video. The next one will be posted tomorrow and I’ll also post on Instagram (maxwellminimusic) and Twitter (@maxwell_mini) once the new video is on the website.

Jimmy, Max and I look forward to more music making with you tomorrow.

Take care.

Jimmy & Max

Lockdown Songs – Day 37

Hello!

I hope you had an enjoyable weekend and your loved ones are all fit and healthy.

Today’s video includes a bouncing song. So, it’s an excuse (if you need one) to either bounce and cuddle your little one, or slightly older children might prefer to bounce their favourite cuddly toy.

Day 37 – Welcome, Alice The Camel and Goodbye Everyone

The next video will be posted tomorrow and as always I’ll also post on Instagram (maxwellminimusic) and Twitter (@maxwell_mini) once the new video is on the website.

Max, Jimmy, Freddie and I look forward to more music making with you tomorrow.

Take care and keep singing.

Lockdown Songs – Day 36

Hello!

Today’s video includes a bouncing song. If you have older children and some space, they may prefer to gallop and walk during the second song, rather than sitting on your lap.

Day 36 – Welcome, Rig-A-Jig-Jig and Goodbye Everyone

I will be posting the next video on Monday. In the meantime, I’d be delighted if you’d revisit the previous videos. At this early age, children derive the greatest pleasure and musical benefit when they revisit familiar songs. Also ‘singing games are important not only from the point of view of developing musical skills, but also as an excellent vehicle for the complex educational process’ (Katalin Forrai, Music In The Preschool, 1988, p.36). If you’re curious about who I am and the philosophy behind my teaching, please check out my ‘Meet Janey’ and ‘About Kodály’ pages.

Please keep your videos, photos and comments coming as they brighten up my days.

Keep safe and have a good weekend.

Take care

Jimmy & Max

Lockdown Songs – Day 34

Hello!

I hope you and your loved ones are keeping safe and healthy.

Lockdown Songs – Day 33

Hello!

I hope you and your nearest and dearest are fit and healthy.

Today’s video includes a bouncing song. This song includes the words ‘lift you up high’ so prepare yourself for a Mummy or Daddy workout! If you have older children, they may prefer to do the actions with a favourite cuddly toy. Enjoy!

Lockdown Songs – Day 31

Hello! I hope you and your nearest and dearest are well.

The weather forecast suggests that today’s song may be appropriate over the next couple of days. The video is aimed at walking children but if you have younger children, you may want to use it as a tickle song, tickling on the word ‘splash!’

Day 31 – Welcome, Rain Is Falling Down and Goodbye Everyone

I will be posting the next video on Monday. In the meantime, please revisit the previous videos. In the early years, children derive the greatest pleasure and musical benefit when they revisit familiar songs. Repetition is vital to develop the skills needed to participate in a song or chant and its actions and also helps them acquire the concept and joy of anticipation. If you’re curious about who I am and the philosophy behind my teaching, please check out my ‘Meet Janey’ and ‘About Kodály’ pages.

Please keep your videos, photos and comments coming as they brighten up my days.

Keep safe, keep singing and have a fun weekend.

Max & Jimmy

Lockdown Songs – Day 30

Day 30 – Welcome, Feet Feet Feet Feet and Goodbye Everyone

I’m loving receiving your photos and comments and discovering how your children are reacting to and engaging with the videos. Please keep them coming as they’re brightening my days.

I hope you enjoy today’s video. The next one will be posted tomorrow and I’ll also post on Instagram (maxwellminimusic) and Twitter (@maxwell_mini) once the new video is on the website. Jimmy, Max and friends look forward to more music making with you tomorrow.
